Google is working on a new feature to enhance the Android experience called “Drag and Drop.” This feature, seen in the Google app for Android, allows users to easily search for links, text, and images that appear after a search.

The “Drag and Drop” feature for Google Search seems to offer new ways for users to interact with search results. It appears to be quite convenient for re-searching phrases within search results.
Using the Drag and Drop feature is simple. When long-pressing on a link, text snippet, or image, a box will appear at the top of the screen that says, “Drop here to start the search.” While the usefulness of this feature for links may be debatable, its integration with Google Lens is noteworthy.
Furthermore, an Android developer discovered that dropping images into the search box opens up Google Lens but doesn’t always initiate a search. Currently, this feature has not been made accessible by Google. However, some users have reported seeing it in the Android app, as shared on Twitter.
It is believed to be part of the experiments conducted by Google’s Search Labs team. The exact timeframe for when this feature will be available to all users remains uncertain.
Additionally, Google is incorporating more artificial intelligence integration into Search. With the addition of Generative AI, the search engine will consult AI before relevant websites, allowing for comprehensive answers to users’ specific queries.
